1.       PhD in Public Administration

This program is open to fresh university graduates as well as the experienced professionals and the government officials from different countries, and is designed to train those students in the field of public affairs, public administration, and public policy.

The program aims to:

provide students with an opportunity to develop functional expertise,strategic perspectives, and public policy management tools that they require to operate effectively in a changing public policy environment or to understand such an environment.

introduce students the techniques of policy analysis and program evaluation toresolve complex multi-dimensional policy challenges, as well as sharpen their leadership and communication skills.

2.       ADMISSION POLICY

Eligibility (for master programs):

Non-Chinese citizen;

All applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university;

Good health both physically and mentally;

Applicants for programs taught in English must complete the IELTS (≥6) or TOEFL (≥90). International students whose medium of instruction in bachelor’s degree was English are exempted from IELTS and TOEFL.

Eligibility (for doctoral program):

Non-Chinese citizen;

Master degree or equivalent for doctoral program applicants;

Applicants for programs taught in English must complete the IELTS (≥6) or TOEFL (≥90). For students who apply for programs taught in Chinese, the minimum requirements for Chinese proficiency are HSK Band 5 (≥200) or Band 6 (≥180).

HOW TO APPLY

Step 1: Complete the Online Application

Complete and submit an online application via apply.sjtu.edu.cn by the application deadline.

NOTE：The application should be done online. Applicants DO NOT need to mail the paper application materials.

Step 2: Pay the Application Fee

The application fee is CNY 800 (non-refundable).

3.       TUITION AND HOUSING FEES

CNY 45,500/Year for Doctoral programs (Approx. USD 6500/Year)

CNY 50-160/Day on-campus(Approx. USD 8-25/Day)

4.       SCHOLARSHIP

When applying at http://apply.sjtu.edu.cn/ applicants should choose “apply for scholarship through SJTU” and follow the steps online. Applicants should complete the scholarship application procedures in time according to the requirements of the university.

The earlier an applicant completes the application, the sooner he/she receives an offer of admission and scholarships if the review result from the university is positive. Applicants can check the scholarships result through the application system. The formal offer of scholarships will be sent along with the formal admission letter.
